The publication is structured into chapters, with each chapter dedicated to a different artist and their story. As key songs are introduced throughout the text, the reader is invited to listen to them through integrated QR codes, accompanied by their transcriptions.
Special pages reinterpret selected lyrics through a typographic approach inspired by calligrams, transforming the words of the songs into poster-like compositions. Custom lettering was designed specifically for these applications, giving the book a distinctive visual voice and creating a direct connection between the rhythm of samba and the rhythm of the page.
Canta, canta minha gente
EDITORIAL
Samba is one of Brazil’s most significant cultural expressions and a fundamental part of the country’s cultural heritage. More than a musical genre, it is a living form of collective memory, shaped by generations of artists, communities and stories. This editorial project explores the history of samba through the biographies of some of its most influential contemporary voices.
The book was conceived as an invitation to celebrate, discover and get closer to Brazilian popular culture. Rather than presenting samba solely as a historical subject, the project uses the stories of its artists and their music as a way to create a more personal and contemporary connection with the reader. The book brings together biography, music and graphic expression to create an experience that extends beyond the printed page.
